Darrell K. Sweet (1934-2011)
Earlier this week Tor's art director, Irene Gallo reported the death of noted F&SF cover artist Darrell K. Sweet. Best known in recent years for his covers for the bestselling Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, he had been a mainstay in the field for decades, reportedly painting over 3000 works. Darrell was also a well-regarded Western and landscape artist and his works reside in many private and corporate collections. Irene has written a thoughtful memorial to him at the Tor.com site.
