Announcing the Spectrum 23 Award Recipients!

The Spectrum Awards Ceremony was held at the Society of Illustrators in NYC on Saturday, May 7th. Congratulations to all of the gold and silver award winners and to the Rising Star and Grand Master Award recipients! View the recipient list by clicking here.

Spectrum 23 Awards Ceremony!

The Spectrum Awards Ceremony is being held at the Society of Illustrators in NYC on Saturday, May 7th. Doors open at 6:00pm and the ceremony begins at 7:00pm. Gold & Silver Awards will be presented in 8 categories; the Spectrum Rising Star Award recipient will be announced as will the 2016 Grand Master honoree. A complimentary small plates buffet will be available along with a cash bar. Seating will be limited. Tickets are FREE but seating is VERY limited and a ticket will be required to have a chair during the ceremony. Standing room and overflow in the Society's bar will be available to those without a ticket.

Spectrum Rising Star Award Nominees Announced!

J.A.W. Cooper, Yoann Lossel and Victor Maury have been selected by Colin and Kristine Poole as the Rising Star nominees for 2016. The Spectrum Rising Star Award will be presented on May 7th at the Spectrum Awards Ceremony held at the Society of Illustrators in New York City.

This award will recognize and acknowledge one of these three emerging artists. Each demonstrates exceptional abilities and a dedication in the fantastic art arena. The recipient will be presented with the award by the Poole's at the gala on May 7th.

Spectrum 23 Artist List!

The complete list of artist names selected for inclusion into the twenty-third volume of Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art is now available. The five member jury selected nearly 500 works by 282 artists that will make up Spectrum 23. These creators that work in every style and medium--both traditional and digital--represent the finest in the fantasy, horror, science fiction and the surreal genres from around the world. You will find top industry names who serve as the current definition of excellence and discover the rising stars who are being published for the first time. Please click here to view the list.

Individual emails to those artists accepted will begin to go out this week. Full details regarding the next steps will be provided.

From everyone here at the Spectrum and Flesk offices, we would like to thank all of the artists who submitted to Spectrum 23. We couldn't do what we do without your support. This includes putting out the Spectrum annual each year, organizing and running the Spectrum Fantastic Art Live event, putting on the Spectrum Awards Ceremony where we hand out the Spectrum Muse bronze awards that are designed and hand crafted by Colin and Kristine Poole, and making the artist feature videos that we post online. You have our most sincere gratitude.

The Spectrum 23 Award Nominations List!

The Spectrum 23 jury has nominated the top five artist works in each of the eight categories for a silver and gold award. David Palumbo, Cynthia Sheppard, Kirk Thatcher, Charlie Wen and Terryl Whitlatch discussed the merits of hundreds of pieces of art before finalizing this list on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Flesk Publications offices in Santa Cruz, California.

The winners will be announced at the Spectrum 23 Awards Ceremony held at the Society of Illustrators on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
